Print it yourself
- Upload the .pub file in the box above and wait a few seconds for the preview.
- Download the PDF.
- Open the PDF in your browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader or Preview on a Mac, and choose Print.
- Check the size settings. Pick Actual size (or 100%) instead of Fit to page when the design should come out at its real size, such as a certificate or a card. Choose the paper the file was made for, for example Letter, A4 or Legal.
That's all a home or office printer needs. It works the same on Windows, a Mac, a Chromebook, an iPad or a phone, because every device can print a PDF.
Send it to a print shop
Most print shops, copy centers and online printers ask for a PDF today, and many no longer accept .pub files since Microsoft retired Publisher. Send them the PDF from PubRescue:
- Page size: each page in the PDF has the size set in Publisher, so a 5×7 in card stays 5×7 in and a tabloid poster stays tabloid.
- Fonts are embedded in the PDF, so the shop doesn't need your fonts installed. Fonts that came with Microsoft Office are replaced with metric-compatible fonts that keep the same line breaks.
- Pictures are placed from the original file, at the resolution they were saved in Publisher.
- No bleed or crop marks. The PDF ends at the page edge. If your design has color or pictures that run right to the edge, ask the shop how they want it; many can print it slightly larger and trim, or add a thin white border.
Send the shop one PDF per design. If you're printing a stack of different files, you get one PDF for each, named after the original.
Folded brochures, cards and booklets
- Tri-fold brochures come out as two landscape pages, outside and inside, the same as in Publisher. Print double-sided and flip on the short edge, or let the print shop handle it.
- Greeting cards and invitations come out page by page, the way Publisher showed them in its page view. Check the preview first to see how your card was set up.
- Booklets such as programs and newsletters come out in reading order: page 1, 2, 3 and so on. To print a folded booklet at home, use the Booklet option in Adobe Acrobat Reader's Print dialog. Print shops arrange the pages themselves.

Change something before you print
To print this year's version of an old design, with a new date, names or prices, download the Word file too, make the change in Word and print from there, or save it as PDF. See Publisher to Word.
Check before printing many copies
Look at the preview of every page before you print a big run. Most files convert very closely, but very old files from Publisher 98 or 2000 are less accurate, and rare effects can look different. If something matters, print one copy first.
